The Law on Personal Data Protection (General Regulation on Data Protection, Law on the Implementation of General Regulation N/N, No. 42/18 and N/N No. 103/03, 118/06, 41/08, 130/11, 106/12- out of force) regulates the protection of personal data on natural persons and the supervision of the collection, processing and use of personal data in the Republic of Croatia. The purpose of personal data protection is the protection of private life and other human rights and fundamental freedoms in the collection, processing and use of personal data.
The protection of personal data in the Republic of Croatia is ensured to every natural person regardless of citizenship and residence and regardless of race, skin color, gender, language, religion, political or other belief, national or social origin, property, birth, education, social position or other features.
The personal data protection officer takes care of the legality of personal data processing and the exercise of the right to personal data protection, takes care of the legality of personal data processing in the sense of compliance with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act and other regulations governing issues of personal data processing, warns the head of the collection of personal data data on the necessity of applying regulations on personal data protection in cases of planning and actions that may have an impact on privacy issues and personal data protection, informs all persons employed in personal data processing of their legal obligations for the purpose of personal data protection, cooperates with the Personal Data Protection Agency data in connection with the implementation of supervision over the processing of personal data.
The personal data protection officer is obliged to preserve the confidentiality of all information and data that he learns in the performance of his duties, and this obligation continues even after the termination of the duties of the personal data protection officer.
